Definition:

Comic book conventions have become a huge part of comic book culture. They have left a bit of their roots as purely a comic book convention and have entered into more of a pop-culture type of event. Convention organizers use lot of things to get attendees at their cons such as celebrities of the comic book world and Hollywood. Whatever organizers can get to increase the hype of the con they will just about do.

The con-exclusive items are just the kind of thing to get fans into a raving lather. These are items that are only available to convention attendees. These could be many kinds of items such as posters, comic books, action figures, pictures, cups, anything you can think of can be a con-exclusive. Some con-goers will rush to the freebie tables that hold these exclusives and map out their path to get as many of them as they can. Some will certainly hold on to them but there are many that offload them immediately on sites like eBay and try to flip them for maximum profit. They can make a lot of money on these as there are those that must have these collectible items.

A great example of this would be the Wizard World 2013 Walking Dead #1 con-exclusive which sold for as much as $99 right after the convention. That is a great price for something that was free at the con. Who knows what a CGC graded copy would go for on the open market.

No matter how you feel about con-exclusives, they have become a big part of the convention circuit and are highly sought after products.

They help add even more excitement to a comic book convention and will continue to be a selling point of the cons. Love them or hate them they are here to stay.
