While there are many different symptoms that can occur with adrenal fatigue syndrome, this article will touch on the 5 most common symptoms.
The adrenal glands in the body serve to produce adrenaline and cortisol, two hormones important in the day-to-day function of the body.
These hormones are the ones that help to control the nervous system by keeping the following areas regulated: the way the body handles pain, the natural run or fight tendencies when cornered with an unstable situation, the body's sexual hormones, and the flow of blood throughout the body.
When the adrenal glands mal-function they can produce an abundance of these important hormones or they slow down production of said hormones; ether way things go with the adrenal glands an overabundance or a lack of the hormones can cause problems and illnesses.
When there is an overabundance of these hormones one might experience such health problems like depression, anxiety, heart palpitations, headaches, and weight gain.
But on the other hand when there are not enough of these hormones present in the body a person begins to feel sluggish in what is known as adrenal fatigue syndrome.
As mentioned previously there are 5 common symptoms of adrenal fatigue syndrome, they include the following: 1) An increase in fatigue, no matter what one does they can not seem to get enough rest, even after 8 hours of sleep a night.
That is because their rest is disturbed by one thing or another, which makes for a night of tossing and turning instead of the deep restful sleep needed to recharge the body.
2) Depression, while this is not always a mental disorder it is still a serious one that needs careful monitoring.
With mental and non-mental depression the sufferer still tends to isolate themselves from their usual social and physical activities, seem to always be sad and lacking in energy, and they may need to be prescribed an antidepressant to help perk them up.
3) An increase in headaches, while some people are chronic sufferers from headaches there are those people who have never had the misfortune to experience one.
Either way a simple headache can blossom into something more serious like a migraine; ongoing or chronic migraines are generally a sign of some deeper chemical imbalance which may or may not need to be controlled by a prescription from a medical doctor.
4) A decrease in one's libido, the adrenal glands help to produce the body's sexual hormones, such as estrogen or testosterone; and if they slow down or stop the production of these hormones, the sufferer might experience a lack of interest in sexual and intimate matters.
This is a good sign that there is something wrong with the sufferer for not only is a healthy libido good for the body it is also good for their significant other.
So if one experiences a drop in their libido then it is advised to be seen by a medical professional who can run a series of tests to see what the underlying problem is.
5) Dependency on artificial uppers, now this doesn't necessarily mean that the sufferer is going to start taking recreational street drugs to get the buzz of energy that they need; but there is always the increased need for caffeine, be it in the form of tea, coffee, energy drinks, or even pills such as No Doze, or even sugary substances such as candy, cakes, and other sugary delights.
This can cause other health problems such as weight gain, nervousness, anxiety and if the person dependent on these things does not have their addiction for a few days, they normally start to go through withdrawal symptoms which can usually add to the main problem.
Of course in addition to these 5 common symptoms there are others which can be tied into adrenal fatigue syndrome, but the important thing to remember here is if you show any signs or symptoms that is mentioned above or even some that were not covered, it is best to seek out medical advice from a professional; as they will be able to order a series of tests to determine what is causing these problems.
Even if you suspect that you might be a sufferer it is best to see about having a regimen of tests performed to rule out any other possible illnesses.
It is also a good idea to consider changing one's lifestyle into a stress free one where bad foods and choices are removed and replaced with healthy eating, choices and daily exercise.
