How to Neutralize Soil Where Ice Melt Killed Grass
- 1). Flush the affected areas with water. Make sure the soil receives at least 2 inches of water over a two- to three-hour period. Repeat the watering again in three days.
- 2). Sprinkle some gypsum over the area. Water the area so the gypsum penetrates the soil. If some of the grass is alive, this should turn it back to its original color.
- 3). Reseed the area with grass seed. Water the newly seeded area twice a day until the grass begins to grow. Slowly taper off as it becomes established.
