Types of Andis Detachable Blades
- This detachable blade, plated with chrome and edged with carbon, often is used for grooming the toes of toy poodles. It also can be used to groom other parts of the feet, such as the pads. Pet owners can even use this blade to emphasize patterns in their dog's fur during dog shows. This specialty blade can be used with any Andis clipper and with other brands of clippers that accept detachable blades.
- If you need your dog's hair to be shaved down to the nub, use an Andis 40 blade. This blade will trim hair down to 1/100 of an inch, or 0.25 millimeters. Veterinarians use it in surgery to prepare the parts of a dog's body they need to operate on. In dog shows, it is used to shave a poodle's face, feet and tail. This blade fits onto an Andis universal attachment comb, which can in turn be attached to a clipper.
- This blade will cut your dog's hair down to the moderate length of 1/8 inch. It has a chrome finish to reduce rust. It is also hand-lapped and polished, helping it to maintain its sharpness. Its most distinctive feature is the skip tooth design; the teeth are spaced farther apart than on normal blades. This allows for cutting more effectively through a thick mat of hair.
- The T-84 is the widest blade Andis makes. It is ideal for use in the Super 2-Speed Horse Clipper for quickly covering a lot of ground on the horse's body. It is also compatible with other Andis clippers, even clippers intended for use on dogs. The T-84 is chrome-plated and carbon-edged, helping it to keep its durability and sharpness. This blade will cut your animal's hair down to 3/32 of an inch, or 2.4 millimeters.
