Xi'an is an old Chinese city famous for its amazing history since over time twelve different Chinese dynasties ruled the area. One of the most popular attractions in Xi'an is the old Terracotta army made of seven thousands soldiers in life size. The soldiers were created to be guardians of the tomb where Emperor Qin Shihuang was buried. However, you should know that Xi'an is a city where you can admire many other sites along with the Terracotta warrior site. If you want to learn more about the history of the place you should employ the services of an experienced guide.

Start your tourist itinerary off with a visit to the Terracotta army site. The archaeological site was discovered during the 20th century and is still considered one of the most amazing discoveries of our time. The museum located near the site is rich in interesting artifacts that were brought to the surface by specialists, allowing you to learn about the history of the place by watching a movie that will shed light on the aspects you had little previous knowledge of.

After admiring the Terracotta soldiers you should visit Banpo. This is a site where it is believed that many thousands of years ago a matriarchal society was thriving. Archaeologists believe the men used to fish for food while the women took care of the children and food preparation.

You should not miss the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. This famous landmark is well preserved and so are the city walls. If you like, you can climb on the top of the walls and take in stunning views of the city. Other religious places you can visit include the Great Mosque as the area is rich in Muslim influences.

For a little bit of authentic shopping you do not need to travel far. Close to the Great Mosque there is a street named Huajue Xiang where street vendors sell their merchandise. Here you will find antiques, art objects, and hand crafted items. There is plenty to choose from and the prices are quite affordable. Caution is advised as the quality of some items may be inferior and keep your eyes open since no one will sell a veritable Terracotta soldier that is supposed to be hundreds of years old

on a back alley.

Xi'an is also famous for its delicious cuisine. Among the most popular and widely known specialties you should try jiaozi, which is a sort of dumpling filled with poultry meat, or vegetables, or seafood.

Bargaining on souvenir items is a common practice in Xi'an. Don't forget to ask if your tour guide receives a commission on the items you buy while on your tour. This may influence the places you will be taken to when you ask for a little bit of shopping.
