How to Clean Honed Absolute Black Granite

    • 1). Dip a clean, damp microfiber cloth or lint-free cloth into a bucket of hot water with a pH-neutral specialty stone cleaner. Dilute the cleaner to the manufacturer's recommended concentration. Wipe the cloth over the honed absolute black granite surface regularly. Never use bleach or abrasive cleaners on granite countertops.

    • 2). Mop up any spillages promptly with a clean cloth or paper kitchen towel. Liquid spills can leave stubborn stains if the liquid is left on the surface.

    • 3). Wipe away any grit on the surface with a dry microfiber cloth or lint-free dusting cloth. Granite doesn’t scratch easily, but a speck of grit trapped between a heavy pan and the countertop might result in a nasty gouge or scratch, particularly in heavily-used areas, such as near the sink or range.

    • 4). Spread a stain-removal poultice onto any stains that appear on the black granite surface. Buy a specialty granite stain removal poultice mix from the countertop supplier, a stone maintenance specialist or a hardware store. Add the recommended amount of water to the mix and apply it to the stained area to a depth of 1/4- to 1/2-inch. Cover the treated area with a sheet of plastic kitchen food wrap or a damp paper towel to keep the poultice moist overnight. Leave the paste in place for about 24 to 48 hours. Clean the poultice from the granite surface by wiping it off with a damp cloth.
