DoDEA Immunization Requirements For Students

Most schools, whether they're public or private, have some type of immunization policy and the Department of Defense schools for military kids is no exception. Parents planning on enrolling their child in any of the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools must ensure that their son or daughter meets specific immunization requirements set forth by the DoDEA.
Furthermore, parents will need to provide a copy of their child's immunization/shot record when registering them in a DoDEA school.

Parents will also need to supply the document whenever school officials request it for verification and compliance purposes. It's important to note that according to the DoDEA the requirements listed below "… represent the minimum requirements and do not necessarily reflect the optimal immunization status for students."

Additional Information Provided by the DoDEA
Information on immunizations and dosage scheduling provided by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicians.

As of July 2010, DoDEA aligned with the immunization guidance prescribed by the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children. As a result, provision has been made for students transferring to a new location allowing up to 30 calendar-days after enrollment to obtain any immunization(s) required by the receiving state. For a series of immunizations, initial vaccination must be obtained within 30 days of initial enrollment.
