How to Recover a Windows XP Adminstrator's Password
- 1). Restart your computer if it's currently turned on. If your computer is off, simply start it up.
- 2). Select the administrator user account when you encounter the Windows XP logon screen. Press "Enter."
- 3). Click "Use your password reset disk" and click "Next."
- 4). Insert the password reset disc into the CD drive when prompted. Click "Next."
- 5). Enter a new password in the box labeled "Type a new password." Enter the password again in the confirmation box.
- 6). Enter a hint in the password hint box to help you remember your password if you happen to forget it again.
- 7). Click "Finish" and you have recovered your Windows XP administrator's password.
- 1). Restart your computer and log in to any Windows XP user account with administrator-level access.
- 2). Click the "Start" menu in the lower-left corner of the screen and click "Run."
- 3). Type in the phrase "control userpasswords2" and then click on "OK." Don't forget the "2" at the end of the phrase.
- 4). Click the "Users" tab and look for the administrator account at the bottom of the screen.
- 5). Click "Reset Password" next to the administrator account.
- 6). Enter a new password in the "New Password" box. Enter the password again in the password confirmation box.
- 7). Click "OK" and your administrator password is reset.
