- 1). Get the part number for your lost key from a Cadillac dealership. The dealer will ask for a current registration and photo identification to verify ownership.
- 2). Ask for prices. Find out the dealer's cost for a new blank key. Then shop for Cadillac keys online at eBay to find a new blank key matching your part number at a lower price.
- 3). Have the new blank key programmed by the dealer or a high-tech locksmith. An automotive computer is needed to program the chip in a new key to work with your car's ignition. The locksmith or dealer can also lock out the lost key to prevent it from starting the car.
