Barcelona Vacations - A Great Review of This Destination
Barcelona is one of the most impressive cities you will ever visit; it has everything you could ever want from lots of bars and restaurants, a beach, hotels and hostels to some of the most impressive architecture on the planet.
When you land in Barcelona International Airport you are greeted with something that you will get right through your stay and that is fantastic public transport.
There are brand new buses that will take you all over the city as well as a great underground metro system and plenty of taxis.
One thing you have to have in a great city is a good infrastructure and Barcelona certainly has it.
The best way of getting around is without doubt on the underground metro system, you can buy a ticket that will give you for example, 5, 10 or even 25 journeys on it, when you go in you swipe your ticket and when you get off you swipe it again, this is counted as a journey.
If you are there for a weekend then 10 is more than enough and you will be able to get around wherever you want, quickly! Within central Barcelona you have plenty of hotels and hostels, a great hostel to stay at is 'Centrica Point', I'm sure you have worked out that means central point and that couldn't be more appropriate, it is within 2 minutes of Las Ramblas, the main street the centre of Barcelona with performers lining each side of it as well as pet shops and markets, it is an unusual feature for a city to have but certainly adds to the experience.
Hostels are much cheaper than hotels and many of them are brand new so they are just as good, the only difference is you have to be up and out of the rooms by 9 and you only get a basic breakfast.
When you are in Barcelona some of the must see sights apart from Las Ramblas are the Nou Camp, Barcelona FC's football stadium which is one of if not the best in the world as well as the Segrada De Familia, a building designed by Gaudi which he started to build but never finished and to this day despite continual building work it is still not done.
It is however the single most impressive building I have ever seen and it is definitely worth a visit, pictures really don't do it justice, you have to see it.
When you have had enough of the touristy things you can go and relax on the beach or at a bar in the harbour overlooking the sea, within 300m you have gone from a huge city to a beach/harbour overlooking the sea and it feels like you are in a completely different place, this is the magic of Barcelona, it has a bit of everything.
At night you won't be short of things to do, the city is littered with restaurants and bars as well as a few clubs.
The main club in Barcelona is Razzmatazz which is in an unusual area of the city, it feels like you are in the middle of an industrial estate when you get there and then the club itself is like an abandoned building with speakers put in and a few bars added.
It is however a great night out, it's always full and they have a good variety of music on.
It probably isn't worth going if you are over the age of 25 though; it is more a young persons club.
Hopefully this shows you some of what Barcelona has to offer and this is only a small percentage of it, you will see when you go just how many tourists and visitors are there which tells you just how good the city is.
