Can Medication Cure Panic Attacks?

There is probably more medicine available today than there are ailments and illnesses, the drug companies just keep churning them out and there is a lot of money involved in medical drugs.
Do any of them work, the answer is yes some must work.
Whether they actually cure or just treat the symptoms of an illness is up for debate, we all have our opinions about drugs.
But can they actually cure panic attacks, well the simple straight out of the box answer is no, there may be some people that will argue with that answer, but I believe all that these drugs do is actually suppress the symptoms or the feelings that overcome our whole being when extreme anxiety strikes.
Now this is not a bad thing because by suppressing these symptoms they can stop us from actually having the frightening experience of a full blown attack and anybody that has ever had one would welcome that result.
These drugs work by changing the chemical balance in our brains and blocking certain cell receptors, which is all complicated science.
So they can stop the anxiety and panic, but this is not a long term solution as these drugs are not something that we would want to be taking over a long period of time.
There are many side effects that can come with these prescribed medications, which can be worse than the symptoms they are treating.
Apart from the side effects our bodies might become use to these drugs as time goes on and they may become less and less effective at controlling the symptoms.
Also what will happen when the Doctor decides we have been on the drugs for to long and they want to bring us off them, which they will do by easing us off them overtime.
We may have become dependent on the drugs and become very anxious at the thought of coping without them.
This could put us in to a worse state of anxiety than when we began the medication.
The way we should approach these drugs then, is to understand that they are okay to ease us of anxiety in the short term, but we need to look at the reason why we have this extreme anxiety in our life, to really be able to cure us of panic attacks.
We need to get help through therapy to discover the root that acts as the trigger to our anxious state.
Therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy are very effective and will be a far more long term solution to drugs, even to the point of a complete cure.
