    Printing Problems

    • The Brother MFC-295 can suffer from a diverse array of printing problems. Examples include a failure to print, poor print quality, white horizontal lines on printed pages, blank printed pages, skewed images and text, smudges and low print speeds. Possible remedies for a Brother MFC-295 that won't print include ensuring that the printer is plugged in and turned on, ensuring that all cable connections are secure, ensuring that the printer is online and replacing depleted ink cartridges. Remedies for poor print quality can include changing the printer's "Print Quality" setting, ensuring that the "Paper Type" setting matches the type of paper you are using and replacing ink cartridges that are old and no longer fresh. To remedy white horizontal lines and blank pages, clean the Brother MFC-295's print head and make sure you are using Genuine Brother Innobella Ink. To prevent skewed pages, load the paper properly so that the side guides rest securely against the sides of the paper. To prevent smudges, avoid using paper that is curled. If you want to speed up the Brother MFC-295's printing times, select a lower "Print Quality" setting and turn off the borderless printing feature.

    Faxing Problems

    • If the Brother MFC-295 is unable to receive faxes, there are many potential remedies that can help. These include ensuring that all cord and wire connections are secure, changing the Brother MFC-295's "Receive Mode," lowering the "Ring Delay" setting, connecting your answering machine to the Brother MFC-295 and setting the machine to answer calls, and turning on the Brother MFC-295's "Easy Receive" feature. If you are having trouble sending faxes with the Brother MFC-295, remedies can include ensuring that all cord and wire connections are secure, changing the Brother MFC-295's "Compatibility" setting and changing its resolution setting.

    Copying Problems

    • Copying problems with the Brother MFC-295 can include vertical streaks appearing in copies, vertical black lines appearing in copies and a failure of the "Fit to Page" function when making copies. To remedy vertical streaks and black lines with copies, clean the scanner bed, which includes the scanner glass and glass strip as well as the white bar and white plastic above the scanner glass and glass strip. To remedy the "Fit to Page" problem, reposition the document on the scanner glass so that it is not skewed.

    Scanning Problems

    • Brother MFC-295 scanning problems can include the appearance of a "TWAIN/WIA" error message, a failure of Optical Character Recognition and a "Fit to Page" failure. To remedy a "TWAIN/WIA" error, choose the Brother TWAIN/WIA driver as the primary source within your computer's scanning application. To remedy an OCR failure, increase the Brother MFC-295's scanner resolution. For a "Fit to Page" failure, reposition the document on the scanner glass so that it is not skewed.
