Very often some women develop yeast infections and are unaware of the fact that they have this terrible uncomfortable condition.
The thing is they are sometimes unaware of the general symptoms and factors that help to contribute to the development of a yeast infection.
A yeast infection is caused by an excessive overgrowth of fungus in the body called Candida Albicans and is said to develop mostly in the moist areas of the body.
Therefore the vagina is a breeding ground for this microorganism.
Yeast also forms in other parts of the body but it generally depends on what triggers off the fungus.
There are several symptoms that will indicate that you have a yeast infection.
Pain during sex.
This is a one of the common symptom that can be associated with an infection.
More often than not the woman will experience some amount of discomfort when they engage in sexual intercourse.
That is why it is always advisable to refrain from being intimate when you have an infection as you can run the risk of infecting your partner who may in turn re-infect you.
Itching in the vagina.
This is the most common symptom of an infection also accompanied by redness, severe burning and soreness.
In addition you will also notice a white thick discharge usually accompanied by a fishy odor.
Painful urination.
When you have an infection it also becomes difficult for you to urinate.
This is because the skin around the vagina is so sore and sensitive that it causes intense burning especially when it is being rubbed or touched.
These are some symptoms that are associated with a yeast infection, however what you should note is that not all women carry the same symptoms.
Having most of these symptoms can be indicative of other situations that are happening in the body.
So before you start treatment for an infection, be sure to consult your physician.
