How to Ship Italian Ice
- 1). Select a foam chest large enough to accommodate the amount of Italian ice you wish to send. Cool the chest by packing it with ice or extra dry ice if you have it.
- 2). Fill the resealable plastic bags with the Italian ice. Ensure that the bags seal easily.
- 3). Put on leather gloves. If you don't have gloves, use oven mitts. Never touch dry ice because the ice will very quickly freeze your skin and burn it.
- 4). Place dry ice blocks in the bottom of the chest.
- 5). Lay the packages on top of the dry ice.
- 6). Place dry-ice blocks on top of the Italian ice. If there is room, place dry ice on both sides of the resealable bags.
- 7). Fill in any gaps with rolled-up newspapers, plastic-foam peanuts or other packaging material. Too much air causes dry ice to sublimate more quickly, but leave a small amount of air between the top of the dry-ice blocks and the lid of the cooler.
- 8). Seal the chest with packing tape.
- 9). Fill out the mailing label and affix it to the top of the box.

Affix the dry-ice labels to each side of the box. You can obtain labels from the shipping company or sometimes the dry-ice provider. If you don't have dry-ice labels, write "Dry Ice" on each side of the box with permanent marker. - 11
Use the fastest shipping method available, preferably overnight, if that is a viable and affordable option. - 12
Alert the recipient when to expect the package so the shipment does not sit on a doorstep for several hours, particularly in the warmer months.
