Weddings can be costly but its the hidden financial pitfalls that might hurt the wedding budget. Knowing these pricey extras can greatly help when planning a wedding.

1. Wedding Band Equipment

The cost of a band is inclusive of the equipment used and the duration of the performance. For reception venues with extra-large space, additional equipment like microphones and speakers might be required for best sound quality. Prior to booking the place, try to explain the space layout to the vendors and have them explain if there are additional equipment necessary.

2. Wedding Dress Alterations & Steaming

In several stores, the price of the wedding dress does not include the alterations or steaming. Before purchasing the dress, make sure to ask the store regarding the charges on dress alteration.

3. Corkage and Cake-Cutting Fees

You can use the booze or cake provided by the reception site without having to pay extra charge as these are included in the reception costs. However if you decide to use an outside vino or baker, then you have to pay extra.

4. Overtime Costs

In a wedding, the videographer and photographer, the band, and the DJ are booked within a specified period of time. If the wedding extends overtime, then these people will have to be paid extra charge. You need to manage the time effectively in order for the wedding and the reception to end within the specified time and avoid paying overtime charge.

5. Rental Transport

Most rental companies do not include extra fees in their per-item costs. Call the company and ask about their packaging and shipping fees. If the costs are a bit high, you can try the more expensive rental companies that do not charge extra for the delivery costs.

6. Cleanup & Breakdown Costs

This can be overlooked as the bride spends more time planning the big day and forgets what happens after. Try to read the contract carefully. The labor charge should cover both the setup and breakdown costs.

7. Taxes & Gratuities

Taxes are almost always included in everything however a lot of couples overlook this during the planning stage. Try to pay the bill in one go to avoid any tax-related problems.

8. Non-Approved Vendors

There are several venues that have their own list of vendors preferred and would require couples to choose only the vendors in the list. If you choose a vendor that is not on the list, a fee will be charged.
