How to Make a Wrench Drawing for Drafting
- 1). Draw a circle with the compass. Make a dot in the center of the circle. Draw a wide "V," extending from the dot toward the outside edge of the circle. Stop halfway to the edge, and then draw two parallel lines coming straight out of the circle's outline.
- 2). Erase the part of the circle between the two lines. Now you have the crescent part of your wrench. To show one side of the wrench moves to adjust, continue the left "V" line through the center dot to the other side of the circle.
- 3). Make the outline of the adjustable side of the wrench slightly narrower, and then erase the original line. This demonstrates the wrench has two parts and is not one continuous crescent.
- 4). Draw a small rectangle at the base of the wrench head. Draw a spiral inside the rectangle to show the mechanism that adjusts the wrench width.
- 5). Sketch the handle using your ruler. Curve the head of the wrench slightly into two parallel lines approximately four times the diameter of your original circle. Round the end of the handle, and draw a small circle at the end of the handle with the compass.
- 6). Erase excess lines. If necessary for the draft, label the wrench pieces or specify when the wrench is needed for construction.
