Some Tips About House Training a Puppy

When it comes to house training puppies, there are a few decent (and realistic) tips, along with some particular things to take into consideration.
Believe it or not, how you feed your dog is a pretty big factor, among many other things.
One great tip for house training a puppy is the crate method.
Consider a crate to be like a play pen to a dog.
This type of "crate training" a puppy in order to house train them is supposedly one of the most human and effective ways to hours train a puppy nowadays.
So why is this crate training method so effective? Because dogs hate to soil the areas that they have to sleep in, or be in for extended period of time.
They are similar to cats when it comes to this (although cats are far more finicky about this sort of things, and thus are easier to house train).
However, there is still a good deal of strategy that has to be used even when crate training a puppy.
For example, you will need to get into the habit of keeping your puppy on a very strict and consistent schedule in order to house train them in the fastest and most efficient way possible.
So that means that you will want to only feed them at certain times, for starters.
So rather than just giving your puppy a giant dish of food to snack on all day long, just bring them a dish with a reasonable amount of food, and give it to them at the same time(s) every day.
Only allow them to eat for a few minutes for each feeding, then take the food dish away after you notice that they are slowing down with their eating.
If you feed your dog at inconsistent times or with inconsistent amounts of food (AKA snacking) then it will make it much harder to house train them because their digestive process and bowel movements will become very inconsistent due to the inconsistent food intake and feeding times.
Also, another important thing to take into consideration is bringing your dog out to run around and exercise at consistent times through out the day as well.
This will get them used to a schedule, and will also get them into a consistent schedule when it comes to relieving themselves as well.
And on top of that, exercising will speed up your dogs digestive process, at least when compared to when they just sit there and do nothing.
This is helpful when it comes to house training them, because again, it helps them to get into a consistent and routine schedule for going to the bathroom.
You will always want to make sure that your puppy has a bowl of fresh water available at all times during the day, but at night, be sure to take it away, as this will help them to make it through the whole night without urinating.
With a little patience, and if you stick to the guidelines above, you should be able to house train your dog fairly easily, and fairly quickly.
Also, remember that the older the puppy gets, the less frequently they will have to relieve themselves, which makes it that much easier for you and your pet!
