• A genre movie theme party is really good if you don't know what film you'd like to feature for your birthday party or if you would like to watch several movies over the course of the evening. Examples of genre parties are classic horror films, teen comedies, Westerns, film noir and romantic comedies. Use your imagination and collect a group of your favorite movies that have something in common. Have finger foods that are movie-theater favorites, such as popcorn, candy and chips in large bowls. Rather than having a large birthday cake, have individual cakes or cupcakes that are decorated to reflect the type of films you will be viewing. Rather than have the guests bring customary birthday presents, consider having them bring a film that reminds them of the honoree.
