How to Acid Wash Metal
- 1). Clean the aluminum by applying aluminum cleaner to the metal and wiping if off with the cloth.
- 2). Determine the pieces of metal that you need to acid wash and set these pieces aside.
- 3). Add the aluminum brightener and water to a bucket using a one-to-10 ratio of brightener to water. This will sufficiently dilute the aluminum brightener.
- 4). Mix a one-to-three concentration of phosphoric brightener and water if aluminum brightener is not available.
- 5). Put on the rubber gloves and dip the scrubbing pad in the brightener solution. Scrub the aluminum with the brightener solution until you remove the oxidation.
- 6). Rinse the cleaned metal with water.
