After a period of time you will start to feel good again about your life.
A feeling of well deserved pride because of the accomplishments achieved is prevalent.
One can look in the mirror and feel good about what they see.
Although never forgetting where you have been and what you went through, you realize that the control of your life is back.
Learning from past mistakes makes this a precious time.
You have the ability to rebuild bridges burned during your addiction.
Along with making new friends and finding new ways to occupy your time is something you look forward to.
To truly understand that there is more to life than the next high is an invigorating feeling that you are somewhat unfamiliar with, but welcome just as well.
Running into old friends and family and being able to look them in the eye and being proud of you again, provides a motivating experience.
At this point you can count your blessings because you have escaped from the perils that consume so many.
Addiction has destroyed many, but you prevailed.
Your return to a normal life is a testament of you worth and ability to overcome adversity.
Be proud of that.
Give yourself credit.
Yet always be humble and remember where you came from.
At this point the best thing you can do is share your experience to help other achieve the same results.
Be the mentor that helps others kick the beast that has taken control of their lives.
Who can be better than you to share the knowledge of recovery? Been there, done that always prevails over textbook advice.
Someone helped you to wade through the waste, why not lend a hand.
There are many among us that need a helping hand.
Without help they may never experience what you have been so fortunate to achieve.
To get their life back.
