Side Effects of Epzicom
- This HIV medication can produce some common side effects. These are generally not seen as cause for worry, and the majority of people that experience them continue to use Epzicom. These common side effects are skin rash, difficulty sleeping, headache, fatigue, unusual dreams, depression, nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, stomach ache and anxiety.
- Some severe side effects of Epzicom can occur. If you notice signs of any of these, seek emergency medical attention as soon as possible. These side effects include lactic acidosis accompanied by an enlarged liver (which can be fatal), immune system changes, and body fat changes (such as more fat on the neck or the upper back, stomach and chest, and less on the arms, legs, and face).
- Serious allergic reactions to Epzicom are possible, although they tend to be uncommon. If you have any signs of these reactions, get immediate medical help as they could bring upon some severe consequences. Some signs to watch out for include chest tightness, having a hard time breathing, itching, hives, and swelling of the lips, tongue, mouth, or face.
- Various HIV medications (with Epzicom being one of them) also have the potential to increase heart attack risk. If you have medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, heart problems, or if you smoke, speak with your physician (all of those factors could significantly increase your odds of experiencing a heart attack).
- If you take any medications or dietary supplements alongside Epzicom, you have a chance of experiencing a drug interaction. Drug interactions can increase or decrease the effectiveness of Epzicom (or any of the other medicines that are also being taken). Some medications that can cause interactions with Epizcom include Hivid, Trizivir, Combivir, Ziagen and Epivir. Make sure that your doctor is aware of any medications or supplements that you are taking before you start use of Epzicom, for safety purposes.
