Timeshare Rental Tips
There are many ways to rent out your week or points. One way is to do it on EBay or Craig's List. You can try Redweek, Endless Vacations, Extra Holidays, or a variety of other companies that are subsidiaries of the big timeshare companies. The other thing you can do is find a friend, colleague, family member, etc. that might be looking to take a vacation. In this article we are going to discuss how to use this last option as a great way to cover maintenance fees, and possibly put a few extra dollars in your pocket.
Once you identify someone that you know who wants to take a vacation, have them explore on the internet how much it would cost them to take a vacation to a location of their choice, and see how much a week would cost for a one, two, or three bedroom condo. They may check put two hotel rooms too. Whatever size that they might need. Once they do the research and find out how much it costs; you will have a good starting point of what it would cost them without getting a good deal from you. All you need to do is give them a 25, 40, or 60 percent discount on the amount that they researched.
Here is an example of what I am trying to say. My friend and his family of three want to take a vacation to Myrtle Beach in March and they found out that a two bedroom condo would cost them 1500 for the week. I can set the reservation in a resort for them either using your resort or an exchange company and give them a 50 percent discount. They get a great vacation for only $750.00, and you get your maintenance fees paid for the year. You must ensure that it becomes a win-win situation. It they feel you are out to make money they may not want to do this. If you are giving them a big discount and get a condo at the same time, this is a great way to use your week or points and not have to put them in the space bank or lose them. Just food for thought.
