There are several religious Christmas games you can play with children. Be creative and think about incorporating Christmas songs, images, stories and words. Traditional party games can also be adapted to focus on Christmas themes. - Divide children into two groups. Mark out a path on the floor with tape or chalk, and place a few open boxes with the ends cut out in the path to function as tunnels. Give each child a cotton ball and have a relay-style race to herd the cotton ball "sheep" through the course using a broom. The team who has all members finish first wins. After the game is over, talk to the children about the importance of shepherds in the Christmas story.
- Compile a list of seasonal items, such as "angel," "candles" and "Nativity scene" and give one list to each team. Have the teams search the house or neighborhood, depending on age, for the items. The first team to return having found all the items wins a prize. After the game talk about how each item is relevant to Christmas.
- Tape paper ornaments to the walls of the party and number them. Write Biblical Christmas-story trivia questions on each ornament. Make note of the numbers and the correct answers. Give guests pen and notepads and review later to see who got the most trivia questions right.
- Either have a pianist play the first few measures of a religious Christmas carol, or put a religious Christmas CD on and play the first few seconds of the track. Tell children to raise their hand when they know which song is playing. The first child to correctly identify the song wins. You may divide the children into teams to play against one another.
