    Sun Exposure

    • The American Academy of Dermatology states on their website that vitamins C and E decrease harmful effects of sun exposure.

    Skin Cancer

    • The AAD also notes that a combination of vitamins A and E achieves a significant reduction in the skin cancer called basal cell carcinoma.

    Burns and Other Injuries

    • According to Orthomolecular Medicine News Service, topical applications of vitamins C and E along with B3, or niacin, bring relief for thermal burns, sunburns, bug bites and bed sores. Intravenous solutions of vitamin C also show success in burn treatment.

    Skin Tissue Repair

    • Vitamin A is essential for maintenance and repair of skin tissue, and topical vitamin A is commonly used for acne control, psoriasis relief and reducing lines and wrinkles.

    Avoiding Dry Skin

    • Inadequate amounts of vitamin B3 and B7, or biotin, can cause dry, scaly and itchy skin.
