How to Clean Badly Burnt Cookware
- 1). One way to get rid of burnt on food is to wet the burned on area thoroughly with water and then sprinkle the pan generously with table salt. Let the pan stand for at least ten minutes then scrub the area with a scouring pad.
- 2). If you need a little bit more power, try making a liquid/paste made out of water and baking soda. Cover the affected area liberally with the mixture and let it set over night before scrubbing. If your pan is made out of aluminum and you want to keep a good finish, do not use this method as it can corrode and etch the pan if the paste is left on too long. Skip to the next step.
- 3). For gentle yet effective removal of burnt areas; scrap as much up as you can with a wooden spoon then fill the pan or pot with water and cleaning detergent. Boil the mixture for around ten minutes, drain then scrub with scouring pad.
