- Dodge produced 906 base-model, hard-top coupes with the inline six-cylinder motor in 1968. While a 318 V8 was standard, Dodge rolled out the "slant six" as a no-cost option late in the model year, explaining its lower production numbers compared to other 1968 Chargers.
- Dodge manufactured 74,019 V8 hardtop coupe Chargers in 1968. The 318 V8 was standard, with a 383 available as an option with either a two or four-barrel carburetor. In 1968, 19,012 buyers chose the 383, while the rest of the buyers opted for the 318.
- In 1968 Dodge made 17,665 of its top-of-the-line Charger R/T. The R/T came standard with a 440-cubic-inch Magnum V8, which produced 375 horsepower. Buyers could also choose a more powerful 426-cubic-inch Hemi. Records show that 475 1968 Chargers came with the 426, while 17,107 got the 440.
