From 1962 through 1998, Chevrolet trucks were known as C/K models, in which "C" referred to the two-wheel drive Chevy trucks and "K" referred to the four-wheel drive trucks. These were among the best-selling General Motors vehicles, according to The Auto Channel website. The Silverado brand was first introduced in 1975. The 1997 Chevrolet C1500 Silverado model is one of many Chevy trucks built on the C/K platform. - The 1997 Chevy C1500 Silverado is powered by a 4.3-liter V6 engine, which generates 255 ft.-lbs. of torque at 4,400 rpm. The engine has a 101.6 mm bore, 88.4 mm stroke and a 9.2 compression ratio. This truck features a cast iron block, cast iron head, overhead valve and two valves per cylinder.
