• For your twin Ice Princesses, going to a local ice rink can be a great way to celebrate a Sweet 16. The first step is to call local ice rinks to find out whether they offer a party room, open skating times or skating reservations. Have your twins send out fun invitations to their friends. It is important to set a limit for how many guests can be invited. On the day of the party, have the twins pass out matching earmuffs, scarves and mittens for the guests to wear on the ice rink. Once the guests are done skating, relax in a party room or at your house. For the non-ice portion of the party, the main food served could be pizza, which is easy party food. Games are not required for Sweet 16 parties; most guests will enjoy being left alone with their friends, good food and music. If your twins do not object to decorations, two banners (one for each twin) will allow your twins to feel equally celebrated. Another idea is to make a small cake for each twin.
  
  

Sweet 16: Independent Twins

• Just because twins are born on the same day doesn't mean their parties need to be. Many twins have their own group of friends, so two parties would be a good idea for each twin to feel recognized. When planning two separate parties, letting the twins plan their own is the best way to ensure a happy party. For example, one twin could have a movie night with her friends. A movie night can consist of pizza, movies, soda and birthday cake. The other twin can throw a party the following weekend where she and her friends go to the mall, shop and eat dinner at a restaurant. Allowing your twins options for celebrating their birthdays will help them retain their own identity and feel celebrated.
  
  

Sweet 16 Twin Beach Blowout

• Since a twin party should be equal to two parties, a beach blowout is a great idea. First, find a local beach with a picnic area. Have your twins send out beach-themed invitations to their friends. More people can be invited to a beach blowout since it is relatively inexpensive. On the day of the party, the guests can meet the birthday twins at a picnic site on the beach. The twins can pass out leis and beach balls to their guests. If the twins do not mind their parents coming along, they could be in charge of grilling while the teens splash in the water. Hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, chips, pickles and cookies are great beach food to be served at the party. One way to transport a cake and to celebrate both twins is to make cupcakes and frost each twin's initials on half of the cupcakes.
