How to Change an Oven Element
- 1). Unplug the oven from the wall outlet or turn off the breaker in your service panel to cut power to the oven.
- 2). Open the oven door and remove the oven racks.
- 3). Remove the mounting screws from the base of the element that secure the element to the rear oven wall.
- 4). Remove the mounting screws securing the broil element to the roof of the oven, if removing the broil element.
- 5). Pull gently on the element to pull it away from the rear wall. The wires connected to the terminals will pull away from the wall along with the element. If the wires do not easily move, do not pull on them. Instead, pull the oven away from the wall, remove the screws around the perimeter of the rear panel and then remove the rear panel to access the wires.
- 6). Pull the wires off of the terminals on the element, either from inside of the oven or from the rear. Remove the element.
- 7). Insert the new element into the oven and connect the wires to the terminals.
- 8). Tuck the wires back into the rear of the oven and move the element into position.
- 9). Reinstall the mounting screws securing the element to the roof of the oven, if installing a new broil element.
