How to Replace a Hoover Upright Vacuum Cleaner Belt
- 1). Make sure that the vacuum is unplugged from the power outlet in your home before you start working.
- 2). Take the height adjustment knob off the top of the Hoover upright vacuum’s base. Pull it off with your hand and then turn the vacuum over so you can see the brushes on the bottom of the vacuum.
- 3). Press the “Release” button on the side of the Hoover upright vacuum to unlock it. The bottom of the vacuum will now lie flat on the ground.
- 4). Remove the screws holding the base plate on the bottom of the vacuum. There will be around four to five screws holding the base plate on. Take the base plate off the vacuum.
- 5). Use your hands to lift the brush roller out of the unit. Pull the broken or worn belt off the brush roller and then off the transmission pulley located further up on the unit. The transmission pulley will look like a small pin.
- 6). Wrap the belt around the transmission pulley. Attach the other end of the belt to the brush roller. Stretch the belt so the brush roller can go back into place inside the unit. Replace the base plate and the screws holding it in.
- 7). Replace the height adjustment knob on the vacuum. Plug the Hoover upright into the wall and test it to make sure the brushes are spinning properly.
