How to Reinstall an XP Display Driver
- 1). Click the "Start" button, then right-click "Computer" on the Start menu.
- 2). Choose "Properties" from the drop-down menu.
- 3). Open the "Hardware" tab and click "Device Manger."
- 4). Click the plus sign next to "Display Adapters" to extend the list of video devices on your computer.
- 5). Record any information about your video device from the Device Manager. This will usually tell you the model and manufacturer of your video card. You will need this information to download the correct device drivers.
- 1). Go to your video card manufacturer's website and download the display drivers. Use the model information you recorded from the Device Manager to download the correct drivers.
- 2). Locate the driver file once the download is complete. If this is an ".exe" file type, you can double-click the file and launch an automatic installation wizard. If the drivers did not download as an ".exe" file, you can install them in the Device Manager.
- 3). Double-click your video card's name in the Device Manager window.
- 4). Navigate to the "Driver" tab and click "Update Driver." You will launch the Windows driver installation wizard.
- 5). Select "Install from a list or specific location," then choose "Search for the best driver in these locations."
- 6). Place a check in the box next to "Include this location in the search."
- 7). Browse for the driver file that you downloaded, then double-click to load it into the installation wizard.
- 8). Click the "Next" button to install the display driver for your computer's video card.
