    • The Ford F-Series is a full-size pickup truck line introduced by Ford in 1948. The current version of the truck is the F-150 model, with F-250, F-350 and F-450 models comprising its Super Duty line. Available in 2- and 4-wheel-drive, the big Ford truck is sold in various cabin and truck bed permutations, powered by gas V-8 engines or a Power Stroke diesel V-8.

    • Available in regular cab, SuperCab and SuperCrew configurations, the Ford F-150 offers three truck bed sizes: a 5.5-foot bed, a 6.5-foot bed and an 8-foot bed. The regular cab sits on a 126-inch wheelbase and is 213 inches long, 67 inches wide and 75 inches high. Seating three to six occupants, the Ford F-150 is available in nine distinct models ranging from the XL, priced in the low 20s as of 2010, to the Harley-Davidson, priced in the mid-40s as of 2010.

    Amenities

    • Standard equipment includes climate control, a tilt steering wheel, a capless fuel filler, vinyl seats, a removable tailgate, stability control, trailer sway control, a safety canopy system and anti-lock brakes. Optional equipment includes cloth seats, a premium audio system with CD, a cargo management system, a bed extender, fog lamps, skid plates, power windows, an upgraded axle, trailer towing package and keyless entry. Various comfort, safety and exterior package upgrades are available across the model lines, including leather seating, a navigation system, a rearview camera, all-season tires and aluminum wheels.

    Power Plants

    • As of 2010, the Ford F-150 offers a 4.6-liter V-8 paired with a 4- or 6-speed automatic transmission, or a 5.4-liter V-8 paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The diesel V-8 is available with Super Duty models only. The standard gas engine is rated at 248 horsepower and 294 pound-feet of torque. The larger 2-valve V-8 is rated at 292 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque, and the 3-valve V-8 is rated at 310 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. Payload ranges from 1,020 pounds to 3,030 pounds. Towing rating ranges from 5,400 pounds to 11,300 pounds.

    Fuel Economy

    • The 2-wheel-drive 2010 Ford F-150 is rated at 15 miles per gallon city, 21 miles per gallon with the 4.6-liter V-8 engine paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. When equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission, this truck is rated at 15 miles per gallon city, 23 miles per gallon highway. The 4-wheel-drive model is rated at 14 miles per gallon city, 18 miles per gallon city with the 5.4-liter V-8 engine.
