Making Silver Painted Furniture Have a Gold Tint

    • 1). Mix two parts of gold paint with one part of clear glaze medium in a small paint pan. Use a paint stirring stick to stir the two liquids together until they are well incorporated.

    • 2). Dip a paint brush into the glaze/paint mixture, and brush some on the furniture. Start in a concealed area of the piece, like the back, so you can get a feel for how the process works before antiquing the most prominent sections of the furniture.

    • 3). Wipe away some of the gold glaze with a clean, lint-free cloth. Leave the glaze in the crevasses and grain of the wood. Apply more glaze if you accidentally remove too much.

    • 4). Continue painting on the glaze and wiping it off until you've added gold highlights to the entire piece of furniture. Allow the glaze to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions before handling the furniture.
