Before buying or adopting a dog, stop and think about it. Are you ready to offer 10 to 15 years of companionship? Are you ready to afford its medical charges, food cost and other financial things? Are you ready to love and take care of it? Are you up to this responsibility? Having a dog or any other pets is part of a great responsibility. You have to give attention, love and care to it. A dog is faithful animal and it will love you unconditionallyĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Small puppies should be vaccinated after 6 weeks. After 6 weeks the mother's antibodies start to wear off which makes them immune to a different disease. There are many breeds of dogs which may have diseases which are genetic. These genetic diseases may be blindness, deafness, elbow or hip dysplasia, cleft palate, trick knees and pulmonic stenosis. Dogs can very commonly be affected by fleas. Fleas are parasites which can reproduce in just 48 hours after one nip of the dog's blood. They lay 50 eggs in a day which are commonly found in the areas of neck, stomach and around ears. After three weeks these eggs are matured into fleas. To avoid this infection of flea always makes dog wear flea collar and spray the dog's coat with anti flea spray. There are anti flea shampoos and conditioner available as well.

Fleas can make your dogs itching. There are also other thing which can make them itchy such as scabies, cheyletiellosis (dandruff), ticks, and other skin infections caused by bacteria and other parasites. For treatment take them to a vet. To avoid all these parasites groom your dog regularly and bathe them at least once a week. For grooming use brushes and combs, brush their coat every day for at least 10 minutes. Dogs may also catch ear mites and so it is important you keep your dog's ear clean, keep them free from ear wax and debris.

During the winter season dogs can have dandruff due to dry skin, include omega 3 fish oil in your dog's diet to avoid dandruff. If you notice bald patches on your dog then take it immediately to a vet as it can be bite marks from ticks and fleas. The vet will provide some antibodies and oral medications.
