Looking for the best eye cream to prevent the first signs of aging can be quite tricky.
After all, most people will not be thinking about eye creams if there aren't any signs of aging developing yet.
And so it happens very often that eye creams are used not really to delay the signs of aging, but to reverse them or at the very least keep them from progressing.
Needless to say, if you want to delay the aging, then you just have to do something before any aging signs appear.
The problem is, do you really know when it's going to happen? Aging signs do not occur at the same time for everyone.
Some people have them early in life, while others can be lucky enough not to have them till they are 35 or even 40 years old! And keep in mind that some signs of aging are not even visible to the naked eye, and that makes it more difficult to determine exactly when to start a beauty regimen that is going to delay the appearance of dark spots, uneven skin tone, and fine lines.
Well, they say you can never go wrong if you start taking care of your skin while you are still young.
Good hygiene and eating and lifestyle habits early on can really go a long way in delaying the aging process.
But while nothing can ever replace these, getting some help from eye creams will not be a bad idea.
Whether you are after preventing aging signs or trying to reverse them, the best eye cream to look for is one that meets the following criteria:
  • Organic-based.
Organic products always make the best choice.
Why? Because they do not contain toxic ingredients that can in fact cause the early development of some signs of aging, hormonal imbalance, contact dermatitis, allergies, organ damage, and cancer among others.
Ingredients such as parabens, TEA, DMDM Hydantoin, Phenoxyethanol, BHA and BHT, Trisodium NTA, DEA, Mineral Oil, Dimethicone, Petrolatum or Paraffin, and Isopropyl Palmitate are potentially harmful, but surprisingly, these are what you will often see in many chemical-based products.
Aside from the fact that these ingredients are toxic, they cannot be metabolized by the body so these chemicals end up either in your colon or just in there your system, eventually contaminating your blood.
  • Has vitamins important to skin health.
There are several vitamins that are especially great on the skin and must be present in eye creams.
One of these is Vitamin A.
The skin needs to have Vitamin A in the right amounts to make it more elastic and less prone to sagging and drying.
The B-vitamins also have important roles to play in skin health.
Vitamin B2 or riboflavin keeps a healthy balance of the oil of the skin, so that the skin does not appear too oily nor too dry (either way can cause problems), while Vitamin B6 can be used to treat dermatitis.
Another vitamin that's as important as Vitamins A and B is Vitamin C.
Vitamin C tones the skin and prevents skin discoloration.
The fact that it is also an antioxidant makes it a good defense against diseases and free radicals.
Last but not least is Vitamin E.
Well, it certainly cannot be called a beauty vitamin for nothing! Vitamin E keeps the skin moist and protects it from aging faster.
  • Has antioxidants.
Antioxidants fight free radicals that accelerate aging.
Acai Berry is one with the highest levels of antioxidants, so beauty creams with this super berry makes for a good choice.
  • Is within your budget.
It's been said that beauty comes with a cost, but that does not have to be.
When choosing an eye cream, go for one that is effective but will not burn holds in your pocket.
