    Blending Text and Graphics

    • Blending text with graphics is often an effective way to communicate and ,moreover, draw an emphasis to an issue or subject. Creating posters geared toward imparting a message to the public or to a specific group, like pre-schoolers, isn't a terribly difficult project to undertake once you determine the message you want to relay with your poster. To create the best posters for this purpose it is wise to utilize a quality graphics program.

    Posters for the Young

    • Keep in mind, the younger your audience the more simplified your message should be. If your poster will be about proper hand washing techniques and it will be directed at pre-schoolers it is important to use only a few words directing them through the proper hand washing steps. Remember that the younger the target audience relying mostly on good graphics is the best approach. For Instance, in the above example, a cartoon of a pre-schooler washing their hands with soap and drying them properly along with a phrase like "Bobby Hands are Squeaky Clean Now" is a good poster design for this age group.

    Business Communication

    • Another use for posters in communicating ideas is when delivering a presentation in the classroom or as part of a business presentation. Unlike poster boards, a poster can be unrolled and pinned up when delivering a presentation to help get across your points and remind people of the bullet points you are covering.

    Warnings

    • Creating warning posters to communicate quickly to the public a potentiality dangerous situation is another valid use for a poster. You might want to make the public aware of a required procedure before engaging in an actively, such as swimming in a pool or other activity that might be hazardous if these precautions are not observed.
