How to Enable iPhone Bluetooth Tethering
- 1). Turn on your Apple iPhone and connect the device to your computer. Use the USB cable that came with your iPhone and plug it into an available USB port.
- 2). Configure Bluetooth tethering on your iPhone. Go to the "Settings" screen and tap the "General" button and then tap the "Network" button. Choose the option "Internet Tethering" and switch it to "On." Tap the "Bluetooth" option to enable the feature. Check the status bar to make certain that the "Bluetooth" icon is displayed.
- 3). Set up your laptop computer to establish a Bluetooth connection with your iPhone. Double-click the Bluetooth icon on your desktop. Or, click the "Start" button on the taskbar and select "Control Panel." Locate the Bluetooth icon and double-click on it. When the Bluetooth dialog box appears on your display screen, click the "Options" tab. Tick the check box next to the options, "Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer" and "Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer."
- 4). Click the "Devices" tab and press the "Add" button. The Add Bluetooth Device Wizard will start searching for a Bluetooth device that is within its range. In a few moments, you should see the name of your iPhone displayed on the screen. Click on it and check your iPhone for a pop-up message.
- 5). Pair your iPhone with your laptop computer. Enter the passkey number that is displayed on your laptop computer on your iPhone.The passkey number helps to ensure that your laptop computer and iPhone are paired with each other. If you're having difficulty pairing both devices, and another Bluetooth device is attempting to pair with your laptop computer, move to a different location to help resolve the problem.
- 6). Transfer a file from your laptop computer to your iPhone. Locate the file path and folder for the file that you want to send. Right-click on the file name and select the "Send to Bluetooth"option.
- 7). Turn the Bluetooth feature off on your iPhone and laptop computer when you're finished using it. Unplug your iPhone cable from your laptop.
