How to Run OS X on Windows XP
- 1). Download the PearPC Architecture Emulator package (see Resources). Extract the PearPC files to a folder on the hard drive.
- 2). Go to the PearPC website (see Resources) and download a preformatted hard disk image. Use the 6GB image if installing the full Mac OS X or use the 3GB image if only partially installing OS X.
- 3). Double-click the downloaded image file and decompress its contents to the same directory used to extract the PearPC files.
- 4). Insert the official Mac OS X installation disc into the computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Use a disk utility program such as Nero to create an ISO image of the Mac OS X installation disc.
- 5). Download and install the PearPC Control Panel (see Resources). Launch the program and click the "Create New Configuration File" button. Point the program to the PearPC directory on the hard drive and then specify the location of the hard disk image.
- 6). Input how much memory to have the computer use for running Mac OS X. Set the preferred screen resolution and color depth and then click "Finish."
- 7). Type "Mac OS X Panther" as the name for the configuration file. Click the "Browse" button and save it to the PearPC directory with the file name "macosxpanther.cfg" and then click "Finish."
- 8). Select "CD-ROM device is installed" and then point the program to the Mac OS X installation disc ISO image on the hard drive.
- 9). Double-click the Mac OS X Panther icon. A PearPC window will appear, and the Mac OS X installation will begin. Follow the on-screen instructions to install OS X.
