Getting It Behind Us - Back Acne Treatment

103 10
While studies show that 85% of teenagers and 20% of adults suffer from acne, only 11% seek help.
And 2/3s of all people with facial acne have back acne, not to mention that 20% of all healthy adult males have some amount of it.
Generally, acne results from overproduction of skin cells inside of their pores, which blocks pores.
And the blockage traps skin oil, creating a breeding ground for acne bacteria.
The overabundance of bacteria and the build-up of oil and skin cells usually breaks the wall of a pore, which tells the body to begin its immune response.
Finally, that response brings pus and redness to the cell and its nearby area, and that's how a zit is created.
Particularly on the back, acne is caused by irritating the skin, where strong rubbing occurs more often than on most other parts of the body.
Anything constantly rubbing against the skin, such as backpacks, tight fitting clothing, weight lifting machines that press on the shoulders, or anything else that rubs the back area and irritates the skin can irritate and aggravate acne.
Here are a few things that can help treat back acne:
  • Wear porous cotton clothing that lets the air through
  • Don't wear a back pack; put your things into a bag or other handheld device
  • Apply your treatment medication after a shower or sweaty workout
  • For light to moderate cases, gentle cleansing with 10% alpha hydroxy acid
  • For heavy to severe cases, use medication with isotretinoin (discovered in 1979 and has been clinically proven to ease or completely clear acne, on the back and elsewhere on the body)
You can find several brand names (at least four) that use isotretinoin by simply typing "isotretinoin" (without quotes) into your favorite search engine on the Internet.
Use the commercial product as directed, and you'll truly put back acne behind you.
