He expresses concern for Elvis and remarks how he shares the same weakness as Tony. “He wants to be loved,” surmises Rolf. “Samantha Brady’s going to be the poison that saps his strength,” predicts Stefano, referring to EJ. Stefano fumes how EJ sits silent and docile while Sami sweeps in and takes his grandson right out of his arms. Rolf remarks how EJ should be ashamed to show Stefano such disrespect. Stefano rants how he should be focusing all his attention on his grandson, but can’t because of his note. He instructs Rolf to continue as instructed. He vows to never make the same mistake of not getting rid of his nemesis.
Rolf later announces that “the patient is downstairs recovering.” Stefano states that he has every confidence in Rolf and the patient. “And when he’s ready, I will make sure that he takes care of this chronic nuisance, once and for all,” vows Stefano as he burns the note.
EJ lovingly holds his boy and assures him that the three of them, meaning EJ, Sami, and Johnny, will make the most beautiful family after Sami makes a clean break from her past.
He receives a visit from Tony and Anna. EJ invites them to take a seat, but they can’t stay since they’re on their way to the airport for an extended stay abroad. Anna offers to change Johnny’s diaper while the two men talk. Tony sits down and warns him that Stefano will take care of Johnny in the best way that serves him. EJ believes that Stefano would never hurt his grandson, but Tony is dubious as he rehashes how Stefano left him to die far away from family and friends. EJ refers to Stefano’s actions as extreme, but speculates that he had reasons for sending Tony away. Tony states the cold, hard, truth: “Stefano gets what he wants, and nobody stands in his way.” Tony begs EJ to get Johnny as far away from Stefano as possible. EJ refers to Stefano as a bit overbearing at times. “And don’t forget cruel and heartless,” adds Tony. EJ affirms that what Stefano does, he does for blood and family. Tony brings up how he’s the gardener’s “bastard,” and thus isn’t family. EJ refuses to believe that Stefano would ever hurt Johnny. Tony is astonished to realize how naive EJ is.
Tony advises EJ to grasp the conclusion that Stefano loves himself more than anyone else. He warns EJ that if Stefano needs something and EJ doesn’t deliver, then he’ll cut EJ down without even shedding a single tear. EJ reminds Tony that he gave Stefano a grandson. Tony rehashes what happened to Stefano’s other children like Benji and Renee, then asks EJ if he thinks little Johnny’s an exception. EJ doubts Stefano will live much longer and states that if Stefano wants Johnny raised as a DiMera, then he’ll have to carry out his mission through EJ. Tony refers to the DiMera lifestyle as one with brutality, hatred, and death. EJ adds that the DiMera lifestyle has pride and achievement. “Why don’t you just be a better man than Stefano could ever be?” implores Tony.
In Lucas and Sami’s apartment, Lucas tells Sami to go. Sami insists that she confessed to have feelings for EJ so he would live. “You told him because you love him!” counters Lucas. Sami claims that she hates EJ more than ever and brings up the most overused word of 2007, which is of course “vendetta.” “I don’t wanna hear that word EVER again!” asserts Lucas, who doesn’t know what to believe. He rehashes how she’s lied in the past. “I know that I love you,” affirms Sami. She swears that she’s protecting her family and thus has a plan. “You are destroying our family,” he counters. He berates Sami for letting Johnny go over to EJ’s apartment and states that she’s sacrificing him and the rest of the family. He accuses her of making him second best, which stuns Sami. “You’ve got your new marriage bed. You made it, sleep in it,” he implores. Sami refuses to go anywhere. “Our entire future is at stake here!” warns Sami. Lucas claims they don’t have a future anymore, since she’s Mrs. DiMera. He orders her out and to never come back. Sami asserts that her name is on the lease as much as his. “Oh I don’t know about that. No DiMera’s on our lease,” refutes Lucas. She claims she understands how he feels, but he doesn’t believe that. He admits that he still loves her, but vows to prove that he can get her out of his life. She turns away, then embraces him and forces a kiss onto him, which he doesn’t fight off. She rips off his shirt and kisses him as he tells her to stop and go to hell. “Come with me,” she coaxes. They fall down onto the couch on the verge of engaging in mad passionate sex.
The clothes apparently didn’t come all the way off as the deed is done. Sami continues to insist that she only told EJ of her feelings for him to keep him alive. She professes to be doing it for them, their children, and their future. Lucas claims they don’t have a future, since she’s married to EJ. Sami vows to never stop fighting for them.
