How to Rescue a Pit Bull in Washington
- 1). Create an area in your home that can be just for your new pit bull. Make sure that you have all of the supplies you need so when you bring him home your house is ready for him. There needs to be space for your dog that is completely his, so that he will adjust better to his new home.
- 2). Contact the local pound. Pounds might put animals to sleep, so check with them first to see if they have a dog for you that needs a home. If so, bring him home. You will be saving a life if you do this.
- 3). Contact the Washington State Humane Society. This is a great way to find dogs that need to be rescued near you. You can contact them online or go to your nearest shelter. They will give you a list of pit bulls that need new homes in Washington, and if you like one you can bring him home. They will also put your name on a list of people who might be willing to adopt these dogs, so if there are dogs that are found which need new homes, you'll be notified.
- 4). Contact both the AKC and the UKC in the state of Washington. Ask for the name of the current president of the state and national chapters of the Pit Bull breed associations. They will direct you to whoever is currently in charge of the rescue missions, or in charge of re-homing pit bulls.
- 5). Check internet sites, message boards, and other online places to find pit bulls that need to be rescued near you. You'll find that there are lots of them, and they will all benefit from your love and care!
