1976 Pontiac 400 Engine Cam Specs
- The 400 cubic inch engine had a high performance camshaft. The intake valves had a .364 to .374 lift with a total intake of 274 degrees, and the exhaust valves had a .407 lift with a total exhaust of 298 degrees. The valves combined had a 55 degree total overlap.
- A Rochester Quadrajet Carburetor delivered air and fuel to the engine at a rate of 800 cubic feet per minute. The camshaft had chrome valve covers and a special harmonic balancer. A special oil pump delivered 60 psi at 2,600 rpm.
- The bolts connecting the camshaft thrust plate to the cylinder head had 15 foot-pounds of torque. Three bolts connecting the timing chain to the camshaft had 20 foot-pounds of torque, while another bolt had 40 foot-pounds of torque.
