Sinusitis irrigation is the fastest and most effective single treatment you can administer.
Irrigation will bring you fast and safe relief from your sinusitis symptoms.
It is easy, it is inexpensive and it will provide immediate results.
Sinus irrigation is not new, in fact it has been a part of the Hindu and yoga healing arts for centuries.
It is called Jala Neti or Jalaneti or just neti.
It consists of pouring a saline solution through the nose to cleanse the areas of bacteria and obstructions.
Nasal and sinus irrigation works by introducing a cleansing agent into the nasal pathways in order to remove mucus, bacteria and any other substances that may be there.
This act of cleansing using a liquid saline solution is called irrigation.
Your sinus infection began with an obstruction.
Somewhere in the small intricate channels that act as drainage conduits for your sinuses a blockage developed.
The blockage stopped the normal healthy drainage from your sinus areas.
Once that happened, the sinus filled up with mucus.
The mucus has bacteria trapped in it.
That's how your system cleans itself.
The mucus traps the bacteria and any foreign particles like fly paper.
Then it drains out of the sinus area taking the trapped bacteria with it.
That is how your sinuses keep themselves clean and healthy.
When there is a blockage, the draining stops.
The bacteria laden mucus backs up.
The trapped bacteria begins to multiply.
Within hours the bacteria count can go from hundreds to hundreds of thousands.
Irrigation helps to sweep the drainage area clear, remove any mucus and bacteria stuck there and open up the normal drainage passages to begin the normal cleansing of the sinuses.
The easiest way to do this is to use a neti pot.
This is a vessel that is built for the express purpose of performing nasal and sinus irrigation.
It is a small pot that holds 4 to 8 ounces of liquid.
It has a spout that fits into the nose to allow liquid to flow into the nose from one nostril.
You bend over, tilt your head to the side and pour the saline solution into one nostril.
Let the water flow out the other nostril.
Repeat the procedure with the other nostril.
Blow your nose and then take deep breaths to dry the nasal area.
You should instantly feel better.
You should be able to breathe better right away.
Some of the congested feeling should be gone.
The best part is, there are absolutely no side effects when using this treatment.
You should use saline solution, not just plain water.
The salt should be non-iodized.
Two tablespoons of salt to 8 ounces of water should be sufficient.
Adding a pinch of baking soda will make the solution less harsh on the membranes.
You can use anything that you can use to pour liquid.
You don't need a neti pot although its design make the whole procedure easier.
When you want immediate and safe relief from your sinus symptoms, sinusitis irrigation is the answer.
You will feel better within minutes.
You can do this even when you are not suffering from a sinus infection as a deterrent to prevent subsequent infections.
