    Intermittent Failure

    • Dodge Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) indicate that Dakota drivers complain of power windows working intermittently and/or operating slowly. TSBs also report that "squeaking" noises may occur when using the power window feature.

    Window Drop

    • TSBs also indicate instances where the Dakota's windows fell into the door frame. A window drop may is likely the cause of a failed window regulator. Some Dakota drivers report window dropping on multiple occasions with one or more windows.

    Solution

    • If your Dakota experiences occasional intermittent failure, replacing the door window motor might solve the problem. The estimated cost for a new window motor is $150 for parts and labor, as of 2011. If your power windows are no longer functioning or you have experienced window dropping, a window regulator replacement is necessary. The estimated cost of a new window regulator is $176 for parts and labor, as of 2011.
