How to Fix a Windows Vista Disk
- 1). Go to the "Start" icon. From there, select "Computer."
- 2). Locate the hard disk drive you wish to fix and right-click it. Select "Properties."
- 3). Go to the "Tools" tab. Find "Error-checking" and select "Check now." At this point, you may need to enter an administrator password to continue.
- 4). Maximize your chances of success. Select "Automatically fix system errors" to make sure your Vista will not simply detect problems. This way, Vista will automatically fix the errors as well. The scan will search for bad files and sectors on the drive. Vista has another function that will check the disk for physical errors on the hard disk itself. Enable this by selecting "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors." Click "Start" and Vista will fix your hard disk.
