    • 1). Register the name of the new business you want to start in Ireland at the Companies Registration Office website. Click "Register a Business Name," complete the online form, print it and send it and a check for the required payment to the Companies Registration Office address on the form.

    • 2). Obtain a Personal and Public Service (PPS) number by visiting the local office of the Department of Social and Family Affairs with your passport and proof of residence in Ireland, such as a utility bill in your name. The number is used for tax reporting and other purposes.

    • 3). Register your business for tax reporting in Ireland at the Revenue website. Download and fill in the tax registration form for the legal structure of your Irish business: sole trader, partnership or limited company. Also download the Employer Tax Registration Form.

    • 4). Check the current threshold for Value Added Tax (VAT) registration on the Revenue website. If you expect your turnover to approach this threshold, it is best to register for VAT sooner rather than later, as you may be able to reclaim VAT you pay on capital expenditure if you are registered.
