Climbing Stairs to Burn Calories

103 7
Walk into a gym and what do you see? Generally a bunch of treadmills, elliptical machines, and other strength and conditioning devices.
In the corner somewhere you will find a bulky machine that either has a bunch of plastic "stairs" on it, or two foot pedals that move up and down.
This machine is known as a stair climber and enables those who are looking for a very intense calorie burning workout to do so without putting any added stress or pressure on the knees and lower back joints.
The stepper works just as you would think it would based on how it sounds.
You simply lock your feet into the machine, and begin to step upward and downward for time or distance.
Many new stair master machines will have state of the art tracking devices that allow you to see exactly how far, or how high you have climbed as well as see how long you have been climbing for and the number of calories you have burned.
This information is rather trivial but can come in handy if you are one that gets motivated based on any of the statistics shown.
It would be rather boring to simply step for days and not know how long you have been stepping for.
On a stair climber you are able to adjust the resistance for the individual steps which can make it easier or harder depending on your preference.
The harder it becomes the more calories you will ultimately burn.
One of the downsides of the stair master machine is the fact that it is not very portable.
With that you will rarely find people who have decided to include the stepper as an exercise device within their home.
New devices have hit the market however such as the air climber which offers a low cost and easy way to include such a machine in your home.
When you are in the process of developing a workout on a stair climber, or any other exercise device for that matter, it is important not to start off to crazy.
You will often find that if you start off at five minutes per day if becomes fun and a challenge to go for longer periods of time in the future.
Whereas if you start at sixty minutes you may get burned out and not want to continue the following day, which is not what we want when we are trying to burn calories.
