Popular honeymoon destinations according to research conducted by the Travel Institute are determined by the type of honeymoon experience a couple is looking for.
There are five types of honeymooners.
They are: Budget All-Inclusive, Comfort Couples, Luxury Lovers, Adventure Seekers, and Culture Vultures.
These honeymooners are looking for specifics when it comes to their perfect honeymoon.
Budget All-Inclusive honeymooners are looking for everything to be included in the cost of their honeymoon.
They do not want any hidden expenses once they depart, they're preference is that they can relax and not worry about extra expenses.
Comfort Couples look for comfort and quality of the vacation experience; they appreciate value within the parameters of a well defined experience; They are more brand conscious i.

SuperClubs, Grand Lido all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean; An adventurous couple might want a spa vacation in a popular destination like Hawaii or Costa Rica (sense of adventure with comfortable accommodations) Luxury Lovers are looking for creature comforts and personal service.
They are well informed and resourceful.
They place high value on their time.
They will judge recommendations according to their high standards.
They tend to appreciate unusual travel suggestions that people in their social circle have not experienced yet anywhere from romantic beach resorts to intimate ski lodges.
Adventure Seekers are looking for heavy adventure experiences such as an African Safari although adventure can be found elsewhere and in many different ways.
Culture Vulture couples place high priority on cultural activities such as ancient ruins, museums, architecture, gastronomy, and sightseeing.
A packaged tour may provide good value while providing a degree of independence most honeymoon couples desire.
Experienced travelers may want complete independence and 5 star boutique hotels.
Trips to Florence, Paris, or Egypt are locations Culture Vultures may select.
Some popular honeymoon destinations by type are Italy, Hawaii, Tahiti, Costa Rica, Mexico, France, Maldives, Fiji, and Greece.
When looking at this list and asking myself what about these destinations attract most honeymoon couples,I see that the destinations have a lot in common; great weather (sunny skies), beautiful beaches, crystal clear aqua marine water, wonderful hotels and resorts, and an abundance of romantic places and attractions.
When picking a honeymoon destination what should the happy couple look for? Does the couple want to vacation in the tropics, stay in the city, cuddle up in the mountains, go on a safari or stay in the desert? Do they want to travel during the peak tourism season when the weather is usually best or travel during the off season when they can usually get better pricing on accommodations, attractions, and avoid crowds? One of the most important things to consider is the weather.
The honeymoon couple will need to find out when the rainy season is; will their chosen destination have a hurricane season? Will there be excessive heat in the destination? What types of special activities does the honeymoon couple want to participate in? You wouldn't want to plan a tropical vacation to Hawaii to snorkel and then find out the ocean current is too powerful to do so.
If you would like to golf, ski, scuba dive, snorkel, or hike...
you need to choose a location that specializes in that activity.
This could mean picking the one resort on an island that has a top-notch golf course, but it can also mean switching to a different location.
Most likely the honeymoon couple will want to keep their options open and have a few different destinations in mind allowing them more flexibility when choosing their perfect honeymoon resort.
