    Singing Telegram

    • A singing telegram that wishes the celebrant a happy birthday can be amusing, interesting and possibly a little embarrassing. Whether the telegram shows up at work, a party or at home, it is sure to be an experience not soon forgotten. Singing telegrams include characters in a wide variety of costumes, such as a bag lady, a doctor, a pink gorilla and even a chicken. Prices vary depending on the company but typically cost more than $100.

    Birthday Video

    • Sending a birthday video over the Internet can be a budget-friendly way to send a funny greeting. Many videos can be sent for free. YouTube.com is just one site that offers an array of birthday videos, from cartoon characters singing birthday songs to a birthday montage. Copy the link and post it to the celebrant's social networking profile or by email.

    E-Card

    • Many free funny e-cards are available for birthday celebrants. For humorous cards that are typically more on the adult side, consider those on someecards.com. You may be able post the cards on the recipient's social networking site, but more often you will need to email them.

    Everywhere Prank

    • If you know where a person will be throughout his birthday, or at least know one or two people who can help you, consider pulling a small prank almost everywhere the celebrant is going to be on the big day. For example, at home in the morning, if he eats breakfast, put blue food coloring in several items he usually uses, such as milk or bread. Put a whoopie cushion on the driver's seat of his car. At work, set his screen saver to pictures he might never use, such as pictures of stuffed teddy bears. At home after work, if he routinely uses the kitchen sink, tape the handle down on the spray hose, then aim it properly so that it sprays him he turns on the water. At each prank, write "Happy Birthday!" on a piece of paper and stick it somewhere he can see it.

    Balloons

    • If you have the time and access to the celebrant's home, blow up as many balloons as possible and fill up a room in the house. For example, if time and money are limited, fill up the bathroom. Otherwise, try to fill up a larger room, such as the living room. He will either have to move all the balloons or spend quite a bit of time popping all of them.
