    • 1). Look at the bath's spout, especially the underside, to see if there is a small set screw holding the spout in place. The screw may be located in a small hole and may not be easily visible. Remove the screw, if one is present, using an Allen wrench of the same size.

    • 2). Twist the spout off the water pipe, if it does not have a set screw, using a pipe wrench by turning the spout counterclockwise until it backs off the water pipe. Examine the small pipe, called a nipple, coming out of the wall for any signs of corrosion or wear.

    • 3). Remove the nipple by turning it counterclockwise using the pipe wrench or by inserting an internal pipe wrench and turning it counterclockwise. Coat the threads on the new nipple with Teflon tape, then twist the new nipple clockwise to thread it into place.

    • 4). Close any gap between the nipple and the wall by squirting a small amount of silicone caulk. Slide the spout onto the new nipple and tighten the set screw with the Allen wrench, being careful to not drop the screw down the drain. Twist the spout onto the pipe if it does not have a screw, until the back end of the spout touches the wall.
